Mel is another guy I knew from kindergarten on.....What a sweet guy.  I remember him playing the drums in cadence for the flag line to dance to.  Great guy!

I knew Melvin from 1st grade on to high school. Melvin played drums at Madison 2 & Camelback. He had a very strict upbringing being the youngest kid in his family. His older brother & sister went to Camelback.

Melvin, was another guy that was just always there...from kindergarten through high school.  He was nice to me whenever we worked together in school or just passing by.  After our 20 year reunion I ran into Melvin and his family, while my family was camping. What  were the odds for us to be at the same camping grounds...we had a great time with them!  Best to you, Melvin!

I knew Mel from the band. I am so sad to hear of his passing - what a great guy he was! He was part of our group that always had a lot of fun and a lot of laughs... and most of that came from Mel.

One time, Channel 10 was coming to film the band for some special on education. At the time, in the drum section, we had the son (Chris Sherlock) of the anchor of the Channel 5 News. The bright lights came on and as filming began - up popped Mel with a sign that read, "Live on 5". I was laughing so hard that I couldn't play. I don't think the camera crew ever caught it.

Melvin was a great friend of mine during my Junior and Senior years.  He was a misfit in the drum line but he introduced me to my first high school love (Nancy Kaufman).  There were the four of us: Mel, Me, Nancy, and Hector Valencia.   We were really close friends.  Bruce Bogucki told me of his passing and I was really saddened.

Mel, you were a true spirit while alive.  I hope you found peace.

I enjoyed Melvin’s fun disposition and twinkle in his eyes.  We had a lot of fun with the Madison #2 band and orchestra. He was also a lively addition to the Camelback marching band.  I knew his sweet wife, Marsha, and her family.  I know how tragic it is to lose someone before their time and the ravages of depression.  I hope he knows how much he was loved.
