Other groups of classmates will be gathering at various times and locations around the resort. We’ll give you more information on these plans as they solidify with time, location and contact numbers.  If you’re making plans for your grade school or special group, please let us know so we can include it in the listings.  Please contact Lita Johnson, litabutmom@gmail.com or at 602-793-7223

You will be able to pick up information packets for the reunion weekend on Friday and Saturday at a lovely table in the lobby near the gift shop hosted by classmates that will give listings of all the great options you’ll have around the Wild Horse Pass resort…restaurants, casinos, shows, golf, spa, horseback riding, swimming and more.—you can check them out in advance at the above website.  We hope to have a message board (by said lovely table in the lobby) where anyone can post a message or an invitation to get together over the weekend.

Please remember:
your registration fees only cover the price of the Reunion Dinner on Saturday night.

SATURDAY
Classmates will be around all day doing a great variety of activities that Wild Horse Pass has to offer.  Again…details to come on a golf tournament (Boyd Heckel, 602-885-4455boydheckel@cox.net), girl’s spa day (Ladies, who WON’T want to be involved in this?), hanging out by the pool and more.  We’ll let you know times and locations as we have them and, again, let us know your plans if you’d like company.

THE MAIN EVENT
Saturday night from 6 to 11 PM is the BIG REUNION EVENT…a festive night of food, fun, memories, dancing (Stairway to Heaven IN, 17 minutes of Inagodadavida OUT) and more! Know that the food is wonderful and varied and we’re taking into account many dietary issues to assure all will enjoy the meal.  It’s good, clean fun…well, until the Open Mike, then we’ll see!  We’ll be sharing memories all along the way.  If you have any great memories, pictures, video, etc. that you would like to share, please send it to Lita Ackerman, litabutmom@gmail.com or contact her at 602-793-7223 for inclusion in the evening.

ATTIRE:  This is NOT a fancy, formal event.  Come comfortable…Resort Casual (not to be confused with barely dressed beach casual…at our age, we don’t even want to go there - with a few possible exceptions!).

SUNDAY

Boy Scout Troop 230/Eagle Patrol will be meeting for a reunion breakfast at 9:30 a.m. at the resort’s Ko’Sin Restaurant.  All Eagle Patrol members and their spouses/significant others are welcome; others are welcome only if they will pick up the tab.  Contact Dan Malinski at (602) 234-9923 for further information.
Nothing else formal is planned for Sunday (other than sleeping in), but there has been made mention of buffet breakfasts, mimosas poolside, more spa and golf time and small group activities. At this time, we are leaving these up to the classmates who reconnect over the weekend and want more time together.  If you are making “bonus” plans you would like listed in the program, please let Lita know (contact info above).

WHAT?  YOU’RE STILL NOT REGISTERED?
It’s not too late!  Jump at the chance for the current rate of $115 per person.  Beginning September 16, it will go up slightly to $125.  October 6 it goes up to $150.  Go to:  www.camelback72.org, left column:  40 Year Reunion Regis.  Make sure to follow all the instructions to the very end (says committee member who didn’t manage it the first time around…coughLitacough.)

AND FINALLY….
We are still accepting (asking for) donations to help pay for the weekend.  Over the course of the planning, costs have gone up on some things.  We have been blessed with donors, but more donations would really enhance the evening that much more.  Please know that 100% of the proceeds are going to THIS reunion.  None is being paid to the volunteer reunion committee members (who have coerced work and donations from their own families, businesses, friends and nameless others to help out where possible.)
Our goal, right now, is to raise $3,000 more.
Come on, you know we can do this!
Please contact Sheral Smith at Sheral@ProjectRN.com or 602-290-1405 or Susie Utke at susan@susanherskerasid.com or 602-540-6229 with questions about donations, underwriting or to make donations. All donors will be acknowledged, unless otherwise requested.
We are also looking for a one-time volunteer accountant to file our non-profit corporate tax return.

8/27:  ATTENTION FELLOW CLASSMATES,

As we are nearing the end of August, we want to remind you again to get your plans in place for our reunion, including of course, actually registering for the reunion.  PLEASE NOTE THAT THE COST OF REGISTRATION WILL BE INCREASING AFTER SEPTEMBER 15th, SO PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE!

ALSO, great news from Wild Horse Pass Resort...in honor of their anniversary in October, we all will be receiving 10% off the price of anything we do at the resort, including restaurants, spa, gift shop, etc.  Of course, that is in addition to our special class room rate of $159, which is, at this point, still in effect.  We encourage all of you to make room reservations and a reminder there will be activity options the entire weekend, so plan your schedule/flights accordingly!

We know there are many of you who would especially like to connect with particular groups from high school.  To get that ball rolling, please visit the "User Forums" tab on the menu and start or participate in a discussion.  Once you have specific plans in place, please let us know and we will make a formal announcement of this through an email message to all reunion registrants.  Between the resort and the Wild Horse Pass Casino there are many options for gathering spots.  Your committee has toured the area and can assist in suggestions.

As always, feel free to contact us with any questions!

YOUR CBHS CLASS OF '72 REUNION COMMITTEE

8/18:  Hello Fellow Classmates!

Your Reunion Committee continues to be hard at work to make this the best reunion ever.  For those of you who have registered for the reunion---thank you!  The buzz and excitement surrounding our event is building, and additional classmates are registering to attend on an ongoing basis.  And, for those who have NOT registered, stop procrastinating!  Please don't hesitate a moment longer, but instead register today and be part of the fun!  Plan for a full weekend, and in the next few weeks, we will be giving you more information on all events.  In addition, if everyone can find at least one "Missing Classmate", we would be so appreciative!

HOWEVER, we do need your help and there are several ways to do so.  Some of the pricing is coming in higher than originally budgeted.  As a result, to make sure there is enough money to do everything your Reunion Committee is planning to make this very successful, we need to reduce some of the expenses by asking for help with the following: Band (our high school tunes and current) or DJ, Emcee, Lighting, Bartenders, Photographers, Printing and Specialty Lighting.  Please let us know if you or your company are in a position to donate any of these items.  The committee plans to have all of these at the reunion, however, if anyone can donate some or all of them it will free up money for some other fun things we’d like to have.  If you have some other creative ideas, do not hesitate to let us know!  Or, if you do not have an affiliation with one of these items, another way to help would be to cover the cost, either individually or in conjunction with another classmate, as a publicized sponsor for a portion of the food, bar, or any of the items mentioned above.  That would be wonderful also!

We are SO APPRECIATIVE of all the classmates who have added a cash donation to their registration.  We will be thanking all of you at some point during the weekend.  For those who have not yet done so, we are still  in need of additional cash donations to make the weekend special for everyone.   You can do this by going back to the reunion registration page, indicate the amount of donation in the donation box, then select how you would like to pay for this.  Thank you in advance for your generosity!

We are looking forward to hearing from you, and seeing you in October!

---Your Reunion Committee

7/13:  ATTENTION FELLOW SPARTANS!

It has been so exciting to see all of your names as you register on our site, and even more so with each new reunion registration! We want to again encourage any of you who have not yet registered to do so. Due to a large mailing we recently sent out to all "Missing" classmates, the decision was made to extend the early bird discount to allow those individuals, many of whom have been regular reunion attendees, to also take advantage of the discount.  THIS FINAL EXTENSION WILL ONLY BE THROUGH 7/20, so please don't delay.  To those of you who have registered, more details on the weekend are now being planned, and when finalized, will be shown on this website under "Reunion Details", so please watch for that!

Below is a letter to our entire class written by Joanne Higgins (Leslie).

Dear Classmates,

I’m among those of us sitting on the sidelines as a dozen of our dedicated classmates make plans for our upcoming 40th year high school reunion. I was feeling a little bad about it (well, not too bad ;-) until I realized that the way I could make a contribution to the reunion’s success was to REGISTER (!!!) for it, and also to contact classmates who haven’t already done so, and say, “Do it. Register”. If you’ll be visiting from out of town--as I will be--I also want to remind you to make a hotel room reservation, in addition to registering for the event itself. We’ll all need a good night’s sleep after a great night of reminiscing and laughter. I’ve been fortunate to have attended the last three of our class reunions (the 10th, 20th, and 30th), and all of them have exceeded expectations (okay, I’m not saying what my expectations were, but the reunions were really fun because all of you are wonderful!). We shared our formative years with one another—many of us went through elementary and high school together (PJ Trumpeter and I were even on Romper Room together!). That’s a lot of shared experiences and mutual memories. The blessing is that we’ve grown and changed and gained perspective. Some of us have raised our own families; all of us have worked hard. So let’s come together and catch up. I’d love to see you. Do it. Register.

Best regards,

Joanne Higgins (Leslie)

7/4:  Re:      Camelback Reunion: Please Register and Submit Payment

I've been asked by the Reunion Committee to send you this email in order to remind you that, because we went to the same high school, we both share a universal love of life, a love of who we are and who we may become in the future, and especially, a love of who we were in high school. This is why, to truly celebrate ourselves, it is necessary to attend the 40th Camelback Class of 1972 Reunion on Saturday, October 20.

I am simply asking you to acknowledge what you already know is the truth:  Yes, the High School Reunion is Good, and yes, you will commit to attend. We both know this will be a healthy experience. Please repeat: “This will be the right thing for me. I am putting away all fearful, sad or awkward memories from high school, because such things never happened, not really. Now that I know I am going to the reunion, only the good memories are washing over me.”

OK, that much was easy. There is a little problem, however. Money. Unlike the old days, our reunion resort hosting-place wants our money in advance. Yep, we looked around, and all resorts now require this. So, even though October 20 seems like a long ways off, we need the people who are going to attend the Reunion, to pay up-front. Please. Here’s how:

1. Pay attention to the difference between classmates.com and www.camelback72.org.  Basically, ignore (and even delete) classmates.com.  They started out giving us some free assistance, but long ago the Committee [your loyal and obedient servant] switched to a different Internet resource that is much better (it actually lets classmates email each other). We are using www.camelback72.org exclusively now.

2. How to register and pay:

·       Go to www.camelback72.org

·       find your name and create a log-in password

·       type in at least your email address (required), and preferably all contact info on your member page

·       go to the menu at the left, click on the 2nd item on list, which is "40 Year Reunion Regis" and it will take you to the registration page

·       scroll down past all the reunion and lodging information to the actual registration area

·       select payment by credit card or check

·       the site then asks for number attending, and names of those attending

·       if you elect to pay by credit card, it will have a screen for that information

·       if by check, it will display the address where you can send the check

·       (very important), you MUST scroll to the very bottom of the page to Purchase Now.

See you at the reunion.

Sincerely,

Scott DeWald

SDewald@lrlaw.com

6/19: Plans for the 40th reunion are coming together, but we still need your help in finding missing classmates and we need those planning to attend to pay your registration fees. The "early bird" registration will continue through June 30th. We want to thank everyone who has signed up on the website and especially those who have sent in donations.

The BIG event is Saturday night, October 20th. Many of you have asked about additional events on Friday and Sunday and we would love to make it a reunion weekend. Wild Horse Pass Resort offers a variety of activities, but unfortunately these extra activities will depend on the amount raised in registration fees and donations. Our goal is to get all of the classmates we can registered and we are working hard to get 150 people registered before June 30th. We will keep everyone posted on our progress.

The other members of the reunion committee are: Sheral (Smith) James, Susie (Utke) Hersker, Paula (Watkins) Quan, Dan Malinski, Boyd Heckel, John Wharton, Scott DeWald, Wendy (Six) Cianci, Lita (Ackerman) Johnson. Please feel free to contact any one of us with your comments, suggestions or questions.

This is my first time helping with the reunion and it has been a great experience reconnecting with my classmates. I lost contact with a lot of good friends from high school and am looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion and catching up with what has been going on with all of you over the past 40 years. Most of the people I talk to have expressed interest in reestablishing connections with someone specific that they have lost contact with. Please check the website periodically for updates on the reunion and to find out who has registered. You can leave personal notes or general comments. Also, please take a few minutes to check the "missing" classmates. If you can provide contact information for anyone on the list, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, look at the messages log for all the prior information that has been posted.

Gayle (West) Sipe

6/10: Greetings fellow classmates of Camelback High School's Class of 1972!

A volunteer committee of your classmates has been working hard to contact everyone who was in our class to let them know about the upcoming 40th reunion as well as the reunion website,www.camelback72.org.  In the short time since the specifics of the reunion were announced, the response has been tremendous and enthusiastic.  The buzz is this will be our best class reunion yet.  Even classmates who haven't attended a reunion previously are planning on being at this one!  I want to thank you for signing up for the reunion on the website.  In addition to information about the reunion, the website provides several other benefits.  For example, you can send personal notes to specific classmates who are registered, or make comments that everyone will be able to read.  This is a great way to reconnect with old friends whom you may have lost track of over the years.  Please take a few minutes while you're on the website to check out the list of currently missing classmates, and let us know if you can put us in touch with someone.

Importantly, we need those of you who have signed up to attend the reunion to pay your registration fee.  By way of explanation, the Wild Horse Pass resort---which is a great venue, by the way---requires payments in advance by certain dates prior to the reunion in order hold the date for us.  The reunion committee members have advanced the initial payment out of their own pockets, but we ask those of you who plan to attend to please pay your fees now to help us make the additional scheduled payments.  To encourage this, a special "early bird" price has been set of $90 if you pay by check ($95 if you are paying by credit card) before the end of June.  We thank those classmates who have donated money over and above the registration fee for their generosity.  (More is needed, however, and will be gratefully accepted!)

The reunion on October 20 will feature great food, great friends, as well as some fun surprises.  For example, I believe we will be treated to a highly entertaining retrospective of our time at Camelback by a world class humorist (happily, I've presuaded Scott DeWald not to deliver this retrospective wearing only his Speedos!).  I predict this reunion will be a great time, with something for everyone.  Please help us get the word out, and encourage any classmates you are in contact with to register for the reunion today.  I look forward to seeing you there!  ---Dan Malinski

6/4:

Hello Reunion Attendees!

This is a reminder that the website records are still indicating you have registered, however, we have not yet received payment.  If there is an error in our information, or if you have questions,  please let me know.  If not, please return to your registration page and either complete credit card information, or indicate you are paying by check.  For the check option, scroll down below the selection and it will reference the P.O. Box address to forward this to

Thank you so much!

Sheral (Smith) James

6/4:   A reminder, if you have not done so already, please help your Reunion Committee by:

  • Logging onto this website and registering by signing in with your email address, then selecting a password.  Again, this is our new, permanent record for our class going forward.
  • Completing basic profile information, such as your physical address, along with any other interesting information you would like to share, such as about family, career, etc., along with any fun photos - past or current.
  • Click on the "40 Year Reunion" link on the left menu screen and register for our reunion.
  • Help us get in touch with those listed on the "Missing Classmates" tab.  As we are missing so many email addresses, we are using the old addresses we had from previous reunions and sending out a regular post office mailing this week in an effort to reach everybody.

Every day more and more of you are registering for our reunion!  For those who have already registered, we are SO excited to have you join us!!  Again, we have an excellent rate at Wild Horse Pass Resort, with a discount of about $100 off their regular in-season rate, so don't miss this opportunity to stay at this one-of-a-kind resort!  For reservations, please call the resort's main number shown your registration information and indicate you are with the Camelback High School Group.  If you have any problems, contact Katrina Skiffington at katrina.skiffington@sheraton.com.  520-796-8275.  She is our contact specifically for the rooms, but please note she is not there on weekends.  For any other questions, feel free to contact me.

Sheral (Smith) James

6/3: To All Classmates:

Our committee is excited to see the reunion registrations coming in!  However, we realized it had not been clarified that we are requiring payment in full at the time of registration.  This is a necessity due to venue requirements and lack of manpower to follow up for payments at a later date. This adjustment on the site has been corrected and registration will not finalize until either pay by check or credit card is selected, and if by credit card, all required fields completed.  We apologize for any confusion on this.  For those of you who registered but did not pay, please return to your registration page and make the payment selection.

Thank You!

Camelback '72 Reunion Committee

5/30:  Our committee is excited to see the reunion registrations coming in!  However, we realized it had not been clarified that we are requiring payment in full at the time of registration.  This is a necessity due to venue requirements and lack of manpower to follow up for payments at a later date. 5/29:

Our 40 Year Reunion details are now posted on this website.  Please go to the "40 Year Reunion" tab to register.  SPECIAL EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION DISCOUNT NOW APPLIES THROUGH JUNE 30TH, so register right away.   This promises to be the best reunion yet, as well as a wonderful weekend!   Remember, we want to see ALL OF YOU!

...Your Reunion Committee

5/23:  If you are receiving this, it means we have your name and email address, but are still anxiously waiting for you to access our site and officially join!   It is free and a lot of fun once you log in and interact.  Please go to www.camelback72.org and follow the simple steps...it will just take a few minutes - I promise!  We have many classmates joining the site and the reunion whom have never attended before.  As time goes on, I think all of us realize how important it is to connect and reconnect with old friends and classmates.  This website will be ongoing in the years to come.  So, please join us, and if you have any problems, feel free to contact me at sheral@projectrn.com.  We look forward to hearing about, and hopefully, seeing you at the reunion!

5/22:  We are thrilled to let you know that we made a mistake!  Debbie (Sherlock) Ortiz contacted us to correct her listing on the deceased list...she is alive and well!!  We are working hard to get the most accurate information possible, but the system is not perfect!

Also, the question came up about not being able to access a classmate's profile.  To clarify, until they "join our site" classmates are not able to be contacted through the site.  In addition, if they have joined but not filled out a profile, that link will not go anywhere until something is put into those fields.

Please keep the questions coming as they are good ones!  And, again, please continue to help us with contact information for those still shown in the "missing" category.  It is very exciting as the names are coming in regularly, so thanks to all of you!

5/16: Welcome Camelback High School Class of ’72 Spartans and thank you for joining our new, permanent class website!

First, if you are on Classmates.com, please redirect those you communicate with on that site to this new location, especially for reunion information and registration.  We also need each one of you to help us locate “missing classmates”.  For our purposes, “missing” means those classmates whose emails we do not have.  It is our hope to communicate primarily through this site, which means email addresses are critical.  If you are receiving this, you have probably added and corrected your own personal information, but if not, please do so as soon as possible – add photos and have fun with it!  In addition, please provide us with any contact information you have on other classmates and, if possible, post this website information on your Social Media pages.  Please also visit our Memorial Page, and if you are aware of members of our class who have passed away, please either add those by following the instructions, or send us an email, with any information you have on their lives.
